Stewart is currently a co-founder and Managing Director of Financial Reporting Advisors, LLC (“FRA”). Based in Chicago, Illinois, FRA provides consulting services and litigation support solutions. Before his affiliation with FRA, Mr. Stewart has been a partner with the firm of Arthur Andersen LLP. He had been the Director of U.S. Accounting Principles in the company’s Professional Standards Group. In this part, Mr. Stewart consulted together with clients and engagement teams on financial reporting issues; authored interpretive advice on several accounting issues; also represented the company prior to the FASB, SEC, AICPA, and IASB. Mr. Stewart was also a member of the FASB’s Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) for around ten decades and served with its schedule committee.
He was a part of EITF working classes on subjects including consolidations, derivatives, financial instruments, foreign money, hedging, rentals and leveraged buyouts. Mr. Stewart served as a part of FASB Implementation Groups on accounting for pensions and earnings taxation. He had been also a part of the Derivatives Implementation Group, the FASB’s Financial Instruments Task Force, along with the Financial Instruments Task Force of the AICPA. He’s a member of the Institute of Management Accountants’ Financial Reporting Committee and the Advisory Council Executive Committee of the SEC and Financial Reporting Institute in the University of Southern California. Mr. Stewart testified before the SEC’s Advisory Committee on Improvements to Financial Reporting.
Mr. Stewart received an M.B.A. Indiana University’s Graduate School of Business, majoring in accounting best lease accounting software along with receiving Beta Gamma Sigma honours. He also earned his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University with distinction where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and majored in mathematics. He’s a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. He also won a nationwide Elijah Watt Sells award because of his performance. Mr. Stewart is currently a part of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the American Accounting Association, and the Institute of Management Accountants.
