When she was just a little girl, she would spend hours practicing the trumpet with her father. As she got older, Artis decided to follow her dream and join the military. She enlisted in the Navy and eventually became an instrument technician. While serving in the Navy, Artis met someone special – a man named Blake. They started dating and soon fell in love. But when it came time for Artis to deploy to Afghanistan, Blake couldn’t come with her. He was still in college and didn’t have enough money to support both of them while they were gone. Artis was heartbroken when she had to leave him behind, but knew that she had to go serve her country. She thought that maybe Blake would eventually be able to join her when he finished school, but that never happened.

When 23-year-old Marine veteran Andy Herren was chosen as one of 25 men vying for the heart of televised dating sensation, The Bachelor, he had no idea what to expect.
